In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Clobbopus doesn’t evolve the usual way—it needs a specific move first. The good news: it learns that move naturally by leveling, so a bit of training is all it takes to turn the squishy striker into a Grapploct.
Clobbopus is one of the species added to the Hyperspace Pokédex with the Mega Dimension DLC. You don’t actually need the DLC to use it, though. If someone with the DLC catches one and trades it to you, it’ll work just fine in a base game save.
Here’s the quick rundown on how to evolve Clobbopus into Grapploct in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
How to evolve Clobbopus into Grapploct in Pokémon Legends: Z-A
Clobbopus evolves into Grapploct once it knows the move Taunt. It learns Taunt at level 35.
If you caught a Clobbopus that’s already higher than 35, it should be eligible to evolve from the party menu. No prompt popping up? Check its move list. If Taunt isn’t there, just re-teach Taunt and the evolution will trigger once it’s in the moveset.

Looking to catch one? Clobbopus shows up through random Hyperspace Lumiose portals—keep an eye out for that round little silhouette if it’s not registered yet. Prefer to skip the setup? Grapploct can also appear in those same portals. To refresh which portals are available, pass time on a bench and you’ll get a new rotation.
