Hunting down Hollow Knight: Silksong’s craftmetal isn’t strictly required, but if you’re eyeing some of the best tools — the Cogfly among them — it’s absolutely worth the detour. The strongest tools ask for craftmetal on top of the usual rosary bead cost, and Silksong doesn’t hand this upgrade material out freely.
Below you’ll find every Silksong craftmetal location and how to reach each one. If you lose your bearings, keeping an interactive map handy helps a lot.
All Silksong craftmetal locations
There are eight pieces of craftmetal tucked away in off-route rooms across several regions. A couple sit behind later abilities — the Faydown Cloak, for instance — though most can be nabbed without endgame gear. You’ll need craftmetal for high-tier tools (including everything from the Twelfth Architect in the Underworks) in addition to their rosary bead fees, so try to keep at least one piece in your pocket before you go shopping.
Bone Bottom craftmetal

Pick up one craftmetal by purchasing it from Pebb, the merchant beside Bone Bottom’s Bellway station, for 60 rosary beads.
The Marrow craftmetal

In the chamber shown above, break the glowing spot on the wall beneath the red flowers to reveal a hidden path. Follow it to the end — mind the spike pit at the bottom — and collect the craftmetal at the dead end.
Deep Docks craftmetal

Enter Deep Docks from the lower Far Fields entrance. Instead of dropping down for the spool fragment (grab it if you’ve got the Faydown Cloak and Clawline), head left. Smash the wooden supports beneath the platform to clear the way, go into the next room, and loot the chest for the metal. A flying enemy that tosses explosives can follow you inside, so stay alert.
Blasted Steps craftmetal

This one’s buried in a small tunnel network. Look for a narrow drop beneath the first bell in the last pogo challenge before the Last Judge. Use the Drifter’s Cloak to hover safely down, avoiding the sand (and Sandcarver worms). Work your way left at the bottom to find the craftmetal.
Underworks craftmetal

Reach this side of the Underworks by beating Trobbio and taking the Whispering Vaults elevator, or by coming in from Whiteward — there’s no other line into this section yet. After grabbing the metal, expect a few undercranks (the big, shelled brutes) to rumble in.
It’s a long run with platforming and not many shortcuts back. The smoothest time to snag it is en route to the Clawline — that ability sits in the room directly above this node. If you’d rather not re-run the Clawline room, open the pause menu and save-and-exit to return to your last bench.
Songclave craftmetal

After finishing “The Wandering Merchant,” donate 500 rosary beads for the “Strengthening Songclave” wish. Rest, leave, and return to find Jubilana missing again. Accept “The Lost Merchant” wish from the Songclave board, then track her down in Memorium. Once she’s back, she’ll sell a craftmetal piece for 180 rosary beads.
Wisp Thicket craftmetal

You’ll need both the Clawline and Faydown Cloak. Climb the tower beside the Halfway House, take the top-left exit, and cross the spikes. At the far left, double jump with the Faydown Cloak into the vertical passage to enter Wisp Thicket.
Head right across spikes first to unlock the bench in the next room, then backtrack. Go left into the following chamber. A burning bug here fires homing fireballs — you can sprint past if you prefer. At the water, clear the lanterns that spit wisps, hop up to the platform, slip through the secret entrance in the top-left, and head right to the end for the craftmetal.
Putrified Ducts craftmetal

This route runs opposite the way you took during “Broodfeast.” From the Putrified Ducts entrance, drop down the shaft outside the Bellway station room, then go right. You’ll need to navigate poison pits, ductsuckers (the huge burrowers), and the grabby tendril plants.
The next room is calmer — even has clean water. It’s where the flea caravan eventually settles after they leave the Blasted Steps, but until then it’s empty. Climb the far wall to spot the craftmetal tucked into a small alcove.
If you’re early on, it helps to mix exploration with main story beats. Progressing quests nets key abilities that make combat and traversal easier. After “The Threadspun Town,” for example, you can upgrade your needle for more damage — and once you find Pale Oil later, you can do it again.
