Eevee Evolution Guide for Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Pokémon Legends: Z-A — How to evolve Eevee into every Eeveelution

Evolving Eevee in Pokémon Legends: Z-A works mostly the way it always has, with a few Kalos-specific wrinkles. You can snag most of the elemental stones as soon as Lumiose opens up, but one stone is trickier until much later. There’s also a quick new way to push friendship up for the forms that need it.

Below you’ll find how to evolve Eevee into each evolution in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, including where to track down an Ice Stone for Glaceon and a fast method for raising friendship for Espeon, Umbreon, and Sylveon.

How to evolve Eevee into Vaporeon

Use a Water Stone. You can buy one for $3,000 at the Stone Emporium on Vernal Avenue, just north of the research lab. There are a few free pickups around Lumiose if you’d rather hunt them down, but buying one is faster.

Use a Thunder Stone. It’s $3,000 at the Stone Emporium, and you can also find them tucked around the city.

How to evolve Eevee into Flareon

Use a Fire Stone. Same deal: $3,000 at the emporium, or scavenge one around Lumiose.

How to evolve Eevee into Espeon

Eevee evolves into Espeon during the day with high friendship. You’ll see an evolution arrow beside Eevee in your party when it’s ready, just like any level-based evolution. Important: make sure Eevee does not know Disarming Voice (or any Fairy-type move) before you evolve, or it’ll become Sylveon instead.

Friendship climbs by leveling, battling, and simply keeping Eevee in your party. A Soothe Bell speeds things up. The fastest method right now is taking Eevee along to cafés — if it sits with you during a drink at the Pokémon-Amie café, friendship jumps quickly. For a Pokémon that doesn’t already dislike you, expect roughly five visits to push it over the line (more if friendship is very low). Any tea works; the cheaper Oran or Pecha options are fine.

There’s a friendship checker on Autumnal Avenue inside the Pokémon-Amie café after you clear Side Mission 25, “Trubblesome Patrons.”

How to evolve Eevee into Umbreon

Eevee evolves into Umbreon at night with high friendship. Use the same friendship methods as Espeon, remove any Fairy-type moves first, then evolve after dark.

How to evolve Eevee into Leafeon

Use a Leaf Stone. You can find a few on rooftops around Lumiose, or grab one from the Stone Emporium for $3,000.

How to evolve Eevee into Glaceon

Use an Ice Stone. Here’s the catch: you can’t buy Ice Stones at the Stone Emporium until the post-game, even though they’re normally $3,000 like the others. Until then, you’ll need to pick them up from fixed spots around the city. The stars in the images below mark the Poké Ball locations.

How to evolve Eevee into Sylveon

Sylveon needs high friendship and a Fairy-type move. Eevee typically learns Disarming Voice at level 15 (which is around the level wild Eevee tends to spawn). If it forgot it, reteach a Fairy move, then evolve once friendship is high.

Update (Dec. 15): This guide now includes more detail on how café visits impact friendship gain.
