In Dead Rails, mining serves as a valuable method to earn additional currency and gather fuel for your journeys. However, players often wonder about the various ores available, particularly if Diamond Ore exists. Currently, the game does not feature Diamond Ore. The ores you can find are limited to Coal, Silver, and Gold. Here’s an overview of these ores and how to acquire and utilize them throughout your gameplay.
Guide to Ores in Dead Rails
Coal Ore
Coal is the most widely encountered ore, but do not underestimate its value. You can extract multiple units from a single ore deposit. Obtaining three pieces grants you a total of $60, saving you the expense of purchasing Coal later for $20 at the General Store within Towns.
Silver Ore
Silver ore is the next on the list and can be quickly sold for $18. You may also gather some rocks that don’t hold any trading value, but you are welcome to collect them and store them in your inventory if you wish.
Gold Ore
Currently, Gold is the most precious ore in Dead Rails, fetching a price of $40. This can provide a significant financial boost if you’re low on funds for offensive or defensive supplies.

Mining is crucial, though it can become monotonous, requiring 40 strikes with a Shovel to retrieve ore from one rock. To alleviate this issue, consider selecting the Miner class, which enables players to utilize a Pickaxe that can break rocks in just two hits. If you’re part of a team or playing with friends, having at least one Miner in your group is advantageous. However, if you’re playing solo and not using the Miner class, it may be wise to avoid mining for ores in Dead Rails.
