Pokémon Go Carnival of Flamigo guide: Flamigo debut, Timed Research, Collection Challenges, and boosted spawns
Pokémon Go’s “Carnival of Flamigo” runs Feb. 3–8 and, as the name tips off, Flamigo finally flaps into the game. The flying/fighting type makes its debut alongside a handful of festive-themed spawns showing up more often while the event is live.
During the event, Incense and Daily Adventure Incense last twice as long, and catching Flamigo grants a 500 Stardust bonus. Lotad, Spritzee, and Pikipek also get a shiny rate bump for the duration.
Below is a full breakdown of the event perks, including how to find Flamigo, all Timed Research steps, Collection Challenges, Field Research tasks, and which Pokémon are spawning more frequently.
How to find Flamigo in Pokémon Go
If you’re on the hunt for the new flamingo Pokémon, you’ve got several options during the event:
- Catch it in the wild — it’s marked as a rarer spawn in the event notes.
- Complete the free “Carnival of Flamigo” Timed Research for two Flamigo encounters.
- Complete the premium “Carnival of Flamigo” Timed Research for two additional Flamigo encounters.
- Finish the “Colors of Joy” Collection Challenge for a Flamigo encounter.
- Pick up and clear Field Research tasks that can award Flamigo: “Make 3 curveball throws in a row” and “Make a great curveball throw.”
All told, this debut is friendlier than some past launches that hid new Pokémon behind raids or eggs. Flamigo cannot be shiny at this time, so don’t burn yourself out looking for a version that isn’t available yet. Good luck finding your lanky pink bird buddy.
