Simple keys in Hollow Knight: Silksong crack open a handful of locked doors scattered across Pharloom — and they’re rare enough that you’ll almost always find the door before the key.
While you’re chasing these locks and keys, expect a fair bit of traversal. Some paths ask for specific movement abilities, so it’s worth grabbing upgrades as you go. Below you’ll find every simple key location and exactly where each one is used.
Simple key locations in Hollow Knight: Silksong
There are four simple keys in Silksong. You can find them here:
- Purchased from Pebb for 500 rosaries in Bone Bottom
- Dropped by a Roachkeeper near the top of Sinner’s Road
- Purchased from Jubliana for 650 rosaries at the First Shrine
- On the rightmost bench in Sands of Karak
Details for each spot are below.
Pebb in Bone Bottom

Pebb sets up shop directly to the right of the Bellway Station in Bone Bottom village. He sells a simple key for 500 rosaries.
Roachkeeper in Sinner’s Road

The Sinner’s Road key drops from a Roachkeeper in the top-right section of the area.
You’ll need the Cling Grip ability (found in Shellwood) to get there.

Once you can wall jump, climb to the top of the western tower in Greymoor and scale the climbable wall. Exit right, cross the bridge, and push through the eastern tower until you reach an outdoor elevator. Activate it. If you slip during the platforming ahead, that lift will catch you on the left side of Half Home. Hop onto the elevator roof and platform to the top-right to reach Sinner’s Road.
Head right, watch for sleeping roach hounds, and in the next chamber consider unlocking the bench — it’s the closest checkpoint to the Roachkeeper fight. Climb to the top of this room and push right, avoiding the sleepers when possible.

You’ll meet your first Roachkeeper on the initial platform — a cloaked foe wrapped in chain, sporting spines. It’s worth engaging to learn its patterns; you’ll face another on the next platform and a key-dropping one beyond that.
After either fighting or skipping them, hit the ceiling switch on the far right to open the door, then wall jump through the spike run to a high platform. Flip the next switch and move into the following room to battle the Roachkeeper that drops the simple key.
Jubliana at the First Shrine

Jubliana sells a simple key at the First Shrine in the top-right of Choral Chambers for 750 rosaries. If she’s missing, start “The Wandering Merchant” wish from the nearby board and track her trail — begin in the hallway just above the “Choral Chambers” label on your map and follow her steps to her hiding spot.
Bench in Sands of Karak
This one sits in the Sands of Karak, but you’ll need the Clawline ability first (found in The Cauldron in the Underworks during Act 2).

After you’ve unlocked the harpoon, head to the Pinstress in the Blasted Steps (west of Shellwood). Grapple to the ring left of her house and zigzag left, then right, then left again to reach a ceiling gap into a spike-and-wall-jump cave. Work through using your full movement kit and take the first doorway to enter the Sands of Karak.

Inside, you’ll find yellow orbs. Strike them to grow winding branch platforms. Pogo and parkour across to the top-right exit.

Keep heading right. You’ll encounter spiky walls and more orbs. When you reach the elevator, activate it but don’t ride it. Continue right to another spiky wall hiding the bench.

Rest, then interact with the body beside the bench to collect the simple key.
Where to use simple keys in Hollow Knight: Silksong
Each of the four keys opens a single, specific lock:
- A locked door northwest of Bone Bottom village
- A locked door in Deep Docks
- The Green Prince’s cage in Sinner’s Road
- A rosary cache room in High Halls
Door northwest of Bone Bottom village

Having the Swift Step ability makes this much smoother. From the left side of Mosshome (as shown above), dash or pogo across the gap using the hanging cages as safe spots. Enter the left doorway and sprint through while a massive mole-like creature rains acid from above. Hide under platforms to avoid the spit, then reach the far door — the simple lock is inside.

Door in Deep Docks
This one also favors Swift Step.

From the Deep Docks Bellway, head right toward the bench sign and hit the floor switch to drop down. If it’s your first visit, go left, ride the elevator down, and clear the enemy rush to open the way forward. It’s worth resting at the nearby bench before proceeding.

Continue until you reach a lava pool with a platform that looks just out of reach — jump and Swift Step onto it to find the locked door.
Green Prince’s cage in Sinner’s Road

In the first vertical chamber of Sinner’s Road, follow the bench signs. You’ll spot a green figure trapped in a cage along the route. Glide through the thorny path and you’ll land right at the Green Prince’s cell — that’s where a simple key is used.
Rosary room in High Halls

Progress through High Halls in Act 2 until you reach a Ventrica chamber. On the opposite end, take the path upward to a door marked with a rosary string symbol — another simple key slot, and a nice payout inside.
