Vilverin serves as one of the initial dungeons you can explore in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered. Although it is introduced early in the game, if you are aware of what items to seek and how to navigate through, you can emerge with valuable treasures, including a Varla Stone and a basic set of armor. This guide will outline the puzzle solutions found within the Vilverin dungeon, along with the loot you can acquire.
Finding Vilverin Dungeon in Oblivion Remastered
Located to the northeast of the Imperial City, Vilverin is identifiable by its scattered ruins and a door featuring a glowing blue symbol. Approach the door, and you will be prompted to enter the “Stone Door to Vilverin,” granting you access to the dungeon.
Puzzle Solutions in Vilverin Dungeon
Within the dungeon, you’ll encounter several puzzles, as well as instances where finding the correct key is essential. Here’s how to navigate through these challenges.
Puzzle Solution #1
The first puzzle is a hidden door situated in the Vilverin Canosel area. The stone door leads to a room branching into hallways that extend north, south, east, and west from a central junction. Move forward after entering and turn left to find the hallway that conceals the secret door. If you find yourself lost, checking the dungeon map will reveal the route to the next area, even if you haven’t unlocked the door yet. The door will automatically open once you progress far enough into the space.
Puzzle Solution #2
The second puzzle is a block mechanism located in Vilverin Wendesel. At the southern end of this segment lies a room containing six blocks and six corresponding doors. Each block manipulates a specific door. Activating the upper right block will unveil the door that leads to the Vilverin chamber key essential for advancing. Additionally, some blocks can lead you to rooms with chests, but be ready to face some undead warriors.
For a rare item known as a Varla Stone, there is a particular switch you should locate.
Acquiring the Varla Stone
A Varla Stone, a highly sought-after item valued at 1,000 gold, can be obtained by knowing which switch to press. In the southernmost room of Vilverin Wendesel, you will find a “Varla Stone Cage” suspended centrally. After defeating the undead, ascend the stairs to the upper level. Here, you’ll discover a cube-shaped switch; activating it will lower the cage with the stone, which you can then collect.
Loot Available in Vilverin Dungeon
Beyond the Varla Stone, this dungeon is an excellent opportunity to acquire starter armor and other items like Ayleid Statues and Welkynd Stones. As you venture through, you will come across numerous Welkynd Stones, which illuminate the area. Here’s how to gather the additional loot.
Loot Details
Upon entering the dungeon, descend the spiral staircase to your first area. Take out the bandits that inhabit the space for safety, then search around. Near the center of the room is a crate with a chest and other items placed upon it. The chest contains 11 gold. Items available on the crate include:
- Iron Cuirass
- Iron Boots
- Iron Claymore
To the right of this crate, you’ll find some sleeping bags on the ground, next to which you can pick up a pair of iron greaves.
Ayleid Statue Location
Another item worth collecting is the Ayleid Statue located in Sel Sancremathi. This statue is prominently positioned, making it easy to overlook. Simply approach it to add it to your inventory. This statue is valued at 250 gold.
