In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, scouts play an integral role by identifying enemy positions, gathering important resources, and much more. Whether you’re approaching with Yasuke’s skills or employing stealth as Naoe, leveraging scouts effectively can provide a significant tactical advantage. This guide will delve into the mechanics of scouts, how to obtain more of them, and strategies to use this feature to your benefit.
Understanding Scouts in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Scouts are your allies who survey the environment and pinpoint the whereabouts of enemies. When you receive information that an enemy is in a general vicinity, it can be time-consuming to pinpoint their exact location. This is where scouts prove invaluable—they allow you to refine the location search, making your objectives much easier to accomplish.
Additionally, scouts can smuggle resources back to your hideout and assist in clearing your ‘Wanted’ status in specific areas. This capability becomes available once you reach Kakurega Level 2, enabling Scouts to clear regional alert levels. This alert status is triggered when enemies activate an alarm bell, escalating the difficulty in that sector.
Maximizing Scout Efficiency
Refining Enemy Location Searches
- Access the Objectives tab and select a pertinent quest, such as a mission requiring you to discover the whereabouts of a character, with clues provided.

- After tracking the quest, navigate to the World map.
- Using the clues you have, position your cursor over the general area where the character is believed to be, and press the Scout Objective button: Square on PlayStation, X on Xbox, or F on PC.

- A circle with a white outline should appear in the vicinity, along with a Dispatch button at the bottom of your screen. Press and hold the indicated button (X on PS, A on Xbox), and the objective area will be marked as long as the original marker was accurate.
- To tighten the search area, consider upgrading the Study at your Hideout.
Resource Acquisition
Scouts are also adept at helping you gather resources for your Hideout. When in a location that possesses High Wealth, like a Castle, utilize the Observe button to scout for valuable Stockpiles.

You can mark resource locations and then, at your Hideout, assign Scouts to mail these supplies back to you. Keep an eye on the Season button located at the upper right corner of the World menu, as they will arrive at the beginning of the next season.
Additionally, you can lower smuggling costs by enhancing the Stable at your Hideout.
Acquiring Additional Scouts
To increase your number of scouts, focus on building the Study, which initially provides you with one scout. You can continue upgrading the Study up to level 3, gaining one additional scout for each level attained.
Restocking Scouts
Scouts will automatically replenish when seasons change. However, you also have the option to manually restock them for 200 Mon at any Kakurega.
