Chasing lightwood trunks in Hytale to push the farmer’s workbench to tier 3? You only really need an axe and a bit of know-how. The catch: nothing in your bag will say “lightwood” outright, so aimless tree-chopping won’t help. Let’s go straight to the biomes that actually count.
Where to find lightwood in Hytale
Lightwood isn’t a single tree; it’s a wood category that covers two types: birch and gumboab.
For birch logs, hunt down trees with pale green foliage and a light gray trunk, then chop away. Your map makes this easier: clusters of tiny green specks usually mark birch-heavy forest pockets. Other tree types show up in different colors, so the tint is your tell.
Birch only spawns in the Emerald Wilds (Zone 1). Don’t waste time checking desert, snow, or volcanic regions.
For gumboab, head into the Howling Sands (Zone 2). In the Savannah—the dirty yellow patch on your map—you’ll spot massive, solitary trees rising over the grassland. Those big loners are gumboabs.
Once you’ve stockpiled lightwood, you can put it toward new build pieces like windows or use it to bump the farmer’s workbench to tier 3, which in turn opens up upgrades for your animal farm.
