New Cyberpunk 2077 webpage reiterates free DLC will arrive early 2021

Cyberpunk 2077 has had a hell of a post-launch period. While other developers would be either basking in the success or scrambling to improve a game for players, CD Projekt Red is somewhere in the middle. By all accounts, Cyberpunk 2077 is a financial success, having made back its costs in development and marketing. However, for CD Projekt Red, the game might as well be a failure. Massive bugs, glitches, and performance issues have given the game a reputation for being broken. This poor showing has even dragged CD Projekt Red’s name through the mud, erasing the developer’s public face and plunging its stock values. However, the work on Cyberpunk 2077 goes on, and it seems like one thing about the game won’t be delayed: its DLC.

This is one area where CD Projekt Red holds a stellar reputation. The developer’s handling of DLC in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and The Witcher 2 made fans more than happy. The news that Cyberpunk 2077 would follow that model was similarly received. Surprise, surprise, people like getting free, quality content.

A season pass for Cyberpunk 2077 has also been planned but wasn’t released due to the game’s last delay before release. In an earnings call, CD Projekt Red joint CEO Adam Kiciński said “The initial plan was to do before release, but after the recent delay, we decided to wait for the release to provide gamers with the game and then start talking about future projects.”

When will we see Cyberpunk 2077 DLC?

As for when we’ll actually be able to play any DLC for Cyberpunk 2077, there’s a timeframe, but it’s vague. According to a recently added page to the game’s site, DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 will arrive sometime early on in 2021. Of course, the game doesn’t offer any other details on what to expect in terms of DLC. There’ll likely be more customization options arriving if it’s really taking the Witcher path, but I’d like to see more of the dystopian version of America set in this universe. We’ll just have to wait and see what CD Projekt Red has cooking.
