Lost Riches day 3 co-op challenge and iron coin locations

Genshin Impact‘s Lost Riches event enters its third day. There are two new locations and even a co-op challenge for you to discover. Here’s our guide to help you out.

Note: For more information, check out our Genshin Impact guides and features hub.

Genshin Impact: Lost Riches event – Day 3 locations and co-op challenge

Location #5: Cuijue Slope

The first new location in day 3 is Cuijue Slope. Although the highlighted area seems massive, most of the digging spots for iron coins are closer downhill where all  the pillars are instead of the higher ridges.

After finding all the iron coins in Cuijue Slope, you can head to the next location.

Location #6: Starfell Valley/Windrise

This is the same spot where you previously chatted with Mona while doing the Unreconciled Stars/meteorite event.

There are iron coins close to the ruins and those that are further away at the surrounding grasslands.

Co-op challenge findings

I have to admit that day 2 of Genshin Impact‘s Lost Riches event led to some confusion. There was a co-op challenge in Guili Plains which didn’t appear for me, and I was uncertain how it was unlocked. I didn’t know if it was a bug or if it was purely random. That’s why I decided to do a bit of testing for day 3’s iteration.

In Starfell Valley/Windrise, I started by marking and interacting with the digging spots closer to or within the ruins area. Then, I looked for those that are further away. I made sure to mark them on Genshin Impact‘s map, though I didn’t interact with all of them yet.

When I had found 40 out of 60 iron coins, I returned to the other marked areas further away from the ruins, but the beams of light were nowhere to be seen. The Treasure-Seeking Seelie wasn’t even making beeping noises anymore.

Then, I made my way back to the ruins and I saw that there was a beam of light there. That was odd since I checked that area already and I never marked down that specific location. Upon digging there, it seems I received the last 20 iron coins, too. That also led to the co-op challenge getting unlocked.

The co-op challenge today is similar to the one from Guili Plains. You’ll need to shoot half a dozen exploding barrels within a short span of time.

I was able to finish this solo and I got 5x Hero’s Wit. However, in case you’re having problems, you could ask a friend to help you out.

Still, the co-op challenge’s trigger seems a bit perplexing:

  • It’s possible that it’s purely random. You could miss out on day 2’s challenge, but you might unlock the one from day 3. It could differ between each player account, too. That presents more questions since Genshin Impact‘s Lost Riches event page didn’t make the unlocking requirements clear enough, just that “Travelers may encounter difficult challenges.”
  • If you’re supposed to unlock a challenge and you’re close to 60 iron coins, it seems the digging spots/beams that are further away disappear. You’re nudged to get closer to the challenge area (i.e., ruins) so that it unlocks the moment you obtain 60 iron coins.
  • As of now, I don’t know of anyone who has unlocked both the day 2 and day 3 challenge. As usual, if you have other findings, let me know.

Anyway, below, you’ll see a video from YouTuber Jonooit. Notice how the player wasn’t able to unlock day 3’s challenge? The last beam/dig spot the player interacted with was also further away from the ruins itself. It really does get confusing since no one knows when you’re in line to get a co-op challenge. My only guess is that, by the end of Genshin Impact‘s Lost Riches event, we’ll all have experienced the same number of co-op challenges.
