‘May’s Mysteries – The Secret of Dragonville’ is a Layton-Esque Puzzler that’s Looking for Beta Testers – TouchArcade

The Professor Layton series is one of my favorites going all the way back to the Nintendo DS originals, and I’ve been loving that the series has slowly been making its way to modern mobile devices in remastered fashion these past few years. But I did always wonder, given the popularity of the Layton series, why more developers didn’t give their own take on the formula. You know, a bunch of logic puzzles weaved into a well-produced animated story. Maybe those types of games are out there and I’m just looking in the wrong places, but in the world of mobile devices developer FredBear Games are trying their hand at the genre with their upcoming May’s Mysteries – The Secret of Dragonville. That title even SOUNDS like a Layton game.

May’s Mysteries will feature more nearly 270 mini-games, broken down as 230 logic puzzles, 25 hidden object games and 13 rhythmic games, and will feature a story-driven adventure with more than 80 locations to visit spread across 4 distinct worlds. The entire experience is hand-drawn with over 7 minutes of animated cutscenes, and the overall experience should last an estimated 25 hours. You can get a taste of what May’s Mysteries is all about in the following trailer.

Now, if this sort of thing is up your alley, I’ve got some really exciting news for you. FredBear is currently looking for some beta testers to help find any last-minute bugs and to give their general thoughts on the game itself. If you head over to the thread in our forums you’ll find links for both an iOS Testflight version as well as the link for the Early Access version on the Google Play Store. Also the game will be going up for pre-order on iOS on January 25th, and the team is hoping to release the game sometime in March. I really like what I’ve seen of May’s Mysteries – The Secret of Dragonville so far, and if you feel the same then be sure to check out the beta version on iOS or Android ahead of the game’s full launch in March.
