Beat Saber Adds 90Hz Oculus Quest 2 Support, PlayStation VR Multiplayer Being Finalised – VRFocus

Lots of news for Beat Saber fans today as Beat Games has released a collection of updates for the various supported platforms. In addition to the updates going live today the studio has finally delivered some exciting news regarding multiplayer on PlayStation VR.

So first up the updates. These vary depending on the platform you’re using with one of the major additions being 90Hz support on Oculus Quest 2. 90Hz on the headset moved out of beta last November in the v23 update, allowing apps to make use of the higher refresh rate for smoother gaming.

Other improvements today include:

  • Added Oculus Group launch – Launch directly into multiplayer with your friends from Oculus party (Quest only).
  • Added toggle to enable Joinable Oculus Rich Presence in multiplayer – Allows other users to launch the game directly onto your private server (Oculus only).
  • Changed No Fail modifier to apply 0.5x multiplier only after you deplete all Energy.
  • Brought back Player Statistics.
  • Fixed player height detector to correctly calculate player height in game.
  • Obstacles are now visible also for other players in multiplayer.

Beat Games also took to Twitter today to update PlayStation VR fans on the much-requested multiplayer mode: “Dear PS VR players, we’re now finalizing the multiplayer build and we should be ready for testing next week. This is an important milestone in the development and we will keep you updated. We’re getting closer!”

Beat Saber PSVR multiplayer

The studio rolled out multiplayer for Oculus Quest and PC VR headsets in October 2020, enabling up to five people to compete against one another. Players can hold private parties with friends or jump into random matches. There’s no cross-platform support, however, so every friend needs to be on the same headset.

Beat Games previously said it planned to launch the feature this month. When it nails down a launch date for PlayStation VR’s multiplayer, VRFocus will let you know.
