Nerd Street Gamers Partners With Brentwood Parks & Rec   – The Esports Observer

Nerd Street Gamers, a national infrastructure company with a focus on gaming and esports, has announced that it has partnered with Brentwood Parks and Recreation in Missouri to give youths better access to esports. The partnership is a multi-phase collaboration between the two that will begin with “a fun and safe” in-person after-school esports program for children ages 7-13 in the spring at Localhost St. Louis, Nerd Street Gamers’ esports and gaming center.

Taking what Nerd Street Gamers calls a “play-centric” approach to teaching esports, the after-school program will be part of Camp Localhost. This program will run Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30 PM CT starting March 29 and running through May 21. Participants will be able to play  such games as Mario Kart, Super Smash Brothers, Rocket League, and FIFA. Participants will be able to drop in on a rolling basis.

This new partnership with Brentwood is nothing new for Nerd Street Gamers as the organization recently signed a new deal with Philadelphia Parks and Recreation. Nerd Street looks at both of these engagements as an opportunity to partner with parks and recreation groups to give locals youths competitive esports experiences.

The after-school program aims to help gamers socialize with others, make friends, and develop critical thinking skills, all within the environment of esports. Coaches associated with this program will undergo a professional background screen and are expected to be role models for campers.
