Koei Tecmo whetted the appetite of musou fans around the world when it revealed the upcoming Samurai Warriors 5. Set to hack and slash its way to PCs via Steam on July 27, the Omega Force developed game will once more transport players back to the iconic Sengoku period in never-ending battles to determine just who is the best warrior in the land. Having access to a variety of characters is a standard in the genre, and we are now getting a closer look at some of them. In a new trailer, we are introduced to four new characters ready to storm the battlefield in Samurai Warriors 5.
These four new additions are plucked from history itself, with an added dash of flair courtesy of the developers. The first of them is a kusarigama expert and head of the Iga Ninjas, Sandayū Momochi. Ninja sword master Hattori Hanzō will also lend his strength to the conflict.
We also have Magoichi Saika, a professional mercenary with no interest in the concept of good and evil. Lastly, the great samurai Yasuke, who serves as Nobunaga’s retainer, will enter the battlefield. The four will be striking out in Samurai Warriors 5 as the latest characters introduced for the sequel.
That is not all, of course, Omega Force is also giving us variants of the two main protagonists.
A different side of things
The adult versions of both “The Demon King” Nobunaga Oda and the Oda family’s retainer, Mitsuhide Akechil, will be playable. If you prefer Nobunaga’s proficient sword techniques and Mitsuhide’s fearsome combination attacks utilizing both his matchlock firearm and blade, you will be in for a good time.
Aside from the many battles you will be waging with the characters like Sandayu, Hattori, Magoichi, and Yasuke in Samurai Warriors 5, the increased focus on a narrative-driven adventure should refresh the formula as well.
The more anime-like graphics should also allow for more flashy presentation that catches the eye. Sharpen your blade, we will be getting into the thick of it this coming July 27.
