Farming Simulator 22 will get cross-play support

As a series first, developer Giants Software has announced that Farming Simulator 22 will receive cross-play support. This announcement came recently by means of the official Farming Simulator blog. There, Giants confirmed that all platforms will be able to take advantage of this new feature. This means that PC players will be able to enjoy online multiplayer sessions with console players. Stadia will also be compatible with this new feature.

Up to 16 players will be able to play together on a dedicated server, but this is a PC exclusive feature for the host. If a server is hosted on a console, then the number is limited to just six. Another limitation comes in the form of DLC. In order to play together, every player must have the same content and mods installed. PC remains superior in this regard as any mod can be installed, whereas console players will be limited to the mods available via ModHub. Meanwhile, Stadia players are left out of this entirely as they’ll only be able to play on mod-free servers. Cross-saving is unavailable on all platforms, as only the host of a server will be saving their progress.

Teamwork makes the dream work

The inclusion of cross-play will allow Farming Simulator 22 sessions to flow much better. Considering the various tasks involved, efficiency can now be further optimized thanks to a wider pool of hands being able to pitch in. Speaking of which, production chains are another new layer of gameplay that has been added to the experience, bringing another role to fill in.

To add more “pizzaz” to the experience, the developer has also revamped the character creator tool to allow for even more clothing styles and character models. While the player’s character isn’t a big focus when playing alone, for multiplayer it’s a different story.

Farming Simulator 22, now with cross-play, will launch on November 22, along with a slew of other new features in tow.
