Bleak Sword () was one of the best launch releases on Apple Arcade. What made it stand out is how it felt fantastic to play on a touchscreen. Devolver Digital and more8bit’s Bleak Sword remains one of my favourite games on the service. Following its launch, it got a major update with new content and a new save system. That update also brought in new music from Jim Guthrie. At the time, I speculated whether a vinyl release would happen in 2021 and it looks like we are one step closer to that. Last week, Jim Guthrie launched a Bandcamp campaign for the Bleak Sword soundtrack on vinyl. I’ve been a huge fan of Jim Guthrie ever since I played Sword and Sworcery a long time ago. His music is definitely a big part of what makes Bleak Sword so good. Check out a trailer for it below:
The campaign on Bandcamp includes a digital album in all tiers. You can pledge to buy a vinyl with no extras or buttons and art cards. The editions with buttons and art cards are limited with under 100 left of each as of this writing. All of this depends on whether the campaign is successfully funded of course. It is currently just under halfway there. If you’d like to sample the music, you can check it out on the campaign page here. If you’ve not played the game yet, read our review of the original release on Apple Arcade here. We even featured it as one of the best games of 2019.
