If you’re looking for some of the best ways to progress quickly in The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War, then you’re in luck, because below we’re going to take a look at all the important features a new Commander needs to take into consideration when starting their new journey through Middle-earth.
One thing to keep in mind from the get-go is the Faction you choose. Since a player is free to pick any of the six Factions they desire, it’s important to select the one that’s most fitting to your play style in general. Each Faction has a small perk that will boost a specific trait, so if you’re trying to benefit from every small boost, this is one that shouldn’t be overlooked.
Leveling up the Ring is arguably the most important task
The Ring is the main element each player has to focus on from the beginning. From creating a unique-looking Ring to expanding its powers, everything will be important for ranking up in the leaderboards ranking.
The main way to upgrade the ring is by conquering tiles. Each tile offers a certain amount of Ring Power per hour, with more difficult ones (to conquer) granting more Ring Power and resources.
Conquer the right tiles
Since there are different types of tiles, it’s important to figure out which ones should be a priority. By tapping on each tile, you can see the amount of resources granted per hour. Obviously, the more tiles a player will conquer, the better the hourly resource gain.
In order to attack a tile, it has to be connected at least in one spot to another tile conquered by the player, the player’s Faction (outlined in purple) or the player’s Fellowship (outlined in blue). That means a player cannot just attack a random tile in the middle of an enemy Faction.
The more you progress in the game, the more tile slots you will unlock. That means, at higher levels you will be looking at disconnecting the low-level tiles by pressing the red X mark, and connecting to better tiles instead.
Shift your attention towards the chapter quests
Each chapter task will take some time to complete, but the rewards granted upon completing all the tasks are absolutely worth it. The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War is not about acquiring a specific unit that will destroy everyone, but strategically expanding the base and gaining enough resources to sustain this constant expansion. For that reason, trying to complete the chapter quests is something that will benefit you in the long run, even from the very beginning.
Try to focus on all resources equally in the late game, but make Food your priority at the beginning
At the very start of the game you will need a lot of Food and Ore in order to expand, but once you’ve conquered enough tiles, upgraded your Commander level and Ring, you will slowly be able to balance every resource gain fairly equally. The main goal should be conquering Food Plot tiles at the start, as well as the Ore tiles. These are easy to conquer and should grant you the necessary resources to get started.
After unlocking the Market, you can trade a surplus of resources for another type (at a rate of about 2:1, which is not extremely profitable to be honest), but keep that as a last resort.
Until then, other ways to acquire resources are by completing the random Tips at the Tavern. These are extremely profitable and can give any kind of reward, including resources. However, they take time to complete.
Join a Fellowship to gain more benefits and expand your tiles further
A Fellowship is the equivalent of an Alliance, and that basically lets players from all around the world form a group and play together. That translates to conquering more tiles together and allowing each other to expand further, attacking bosses together and generally helping each other out as much as possible.
Fellowships can grant significant benefits to players, and they are formed only of players belonging to the same Faction. It’s important to find an active one, so don’t be afraid to exit an inactive Fellowship and look for another. The cooldown time is around two hours, and it’s definitely worth the wait.
Take your time to explore the world
Nothing can be done in a single day and reaching the top will take time. It’s important to take your time and explore every single corner, scouting for the best tiles and slowly building towards them. If you’re able to play with a couple of friends, that’s even better, because you can team up and slowly build a powerful Fellowship together.
Overall, it’s better if you start playing with a group of friends, since you can reliably expand and use each other’s help to conquer specific tiles which would otherwise be more difficult to reach.
