Allan Phang has left his role as the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Middle East-based esports and gaming company Galaxy Racer.
Phang has also announced his departure as a marketing consultant for the organisation.
Under Phang’s leadership, the team won Gold and Bronze respectively in the Sports Industry Awards 2022 for Best Esports Commercial Partner of the Year and Best Esports Event of the Year. The acolodaes were awarded due to Galaxy Racer’s hosting of the GAMERS GALAXY: Dota 2 Invitational Series Dubai 2022.
The event garnered over 38m total views and was the biggest esports tournament ever in the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region.
Prior to joining Galaxy Racer, Phang held positions at SEA organisation EVOS Esports as well as Malaysian multinational airline AirAisa.
In a post on LinkedIn, Phang thanked Galaxy Racer Founder Paul Roy for the opportunity and said he would take a ‘short break’ before revealing his next move.
He stated: “I’m honoured to have had the opportunity to work with global superstars such as Manchester United legend, Mikael Silvestre and former Arsenal and current Barcelona footballer, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
They also have a substantial roster of over 100 international content creators, which has allowed the organisation to run successful advertising campaigns in multiple languages and markets.
Phang was known for several high-profile campaigns over his one-year tenure.
Most notably, the team broke the Guinness World Records for the longest live-stream (at over 268 hours,) and the most viewers for a charity donation live stream on YouTube, in an initiative that raised over $11 million (~£9 million.)
