Sons of the Forest has several weapon attachments that can give your firearms that extra punch or utility effect. One of these is the Shotgun Rail, which is required if you want to add more mods to your boomstick. Here’s our guide to help you get the Shotgun Rail attachment in Sons of the Forest.
Note: For more information, check out our Sons of the Forest guides and features hub.
How to get the Shotgun Rail in Sons of the Forest
To get the Shotgun Rail in Sons of the Forest, you’re gonna have to explore quite a huge chunk of the island. We’ll summarize the steps, but you can take a look at the guides we’ve linked below:
- Shotgun – You can’t really use an attachment if you don’t have the weapon yet.
- Rebreather – Lets you dive, swim, and see underwater.
- Shovel – An important tool that lets you unearth hidden shafts and passageways.
- Maintenance Keycard – Once you have the Shovel, go to the green marker at the left-hand side of the mountain range (assuming you’re facing it and the coast is to the south). Dig near the carts and open the hatch (seen in the left side image below). There’s a room here that has the Maintenance Keycard, as well as the Laser Sight.
Next, if you want to get the Sons of the Forest Shotgun Rail, you’ll have to go to another green marker. From the area where you found the Maintenance Keycard, go a bit further south (as seen in the right side image below). There are a couple of golf carts and a tunnel entrance. Enter it and climb down the ladder. Use the Maintenance Keycard to unlock the door to your right.
Watch out for the mutants here and continue past the greenhouse section. Eventually, you’ll have to wade through corridors that are partially filled with water. At the end, you’ll see a double doors that requires a keycard. But, to your left, there’s a vent that leads to an office. Check it out to pick up the VIP Keycard on the desk. Likewise, take a look at the nearby shelf to get the Shotgun Rail.
Related: Past this corridor, you’ll find Virginia’s Floral Dress.
Shotgun Rail use and other locations
Now that you have the Sons of the Forest Shotgun Rail, you can combine it with the boomstick itself. This will allow you to add extra attachments, like the Laser Sight and Weapon Flashlight.
Moreover, this facility isn’t the only place where you’ll find a Shotgun Rail. There’s another location, which is also where you can pick up the Katana and Gold Mask. However, it’s on the opposite side of the island. That’s going to be a hellacious journey across the wilderness and mountains.
Sons of the Forest is available via Steam.
