Can you Recruit Visitors Peacefully in RimWorld?
There is no way to recruit visitors into your colony in RimWorld without having to turn them hostile. It would be nice if you could just send your leader or charismatic warden to talk them into joining.
For people interested in non-vanilla solutions, there are ways to recruit visitors using mods. These mods will allow you to host visitors and befriend them while they stay at the base.
However, the method that we will use to recruit visitors described below is relatively similar, though it might involve some force.
How to Recruit Visitors in RimWorld
To recruit visitors in RimWorld, you will need to imprison them first. You can easily do this by following these steps:
- Select your best Social pawn and Draft them.
- Right-click on the visitor you want to recruit.
- Choose the “Try to arrest” option.
- Recruit the visitor through the prisoner options once they’ve been arrested.
Depending on the Social skill of the drafted pawn, you can easily capture the visitor and put them in a prison room. You will see the percentage of success when choosing to “Try to arrest.”
Generally, you shouldn’t try this with an inept Social pawn unless you think you can also beat the visitor up if the attempt fails.
As long as they aren’t part of a major faction, there won’t be any real long-term repercussions from this hostile imprisonment.
If the pawn that arrested them is also the warden that will recruit them, then they will also end up being friends by the end of the experience.
However, if you do this with someone from a major faction, you will get a major relationship debuff with that faction. Make sure that you are ready to face them in the future if you want to anger them.
Luckily, visitors are very often part of minor factions that don’t matter or borderline hostile major factions. Depending on their original factions, the recruitment process can take a longer time. You can also use this method to recruit raiders.
