Rust – How to Sleep

Rust is a hardcore survival game that will make you fight death at every corner. You will need food, water, decent clothes, and shelter to survive.

There are also bedrolls and beds that you can craft in Rust, which could make some players think that there is also some sleep mechanic.

How to Sleep in Rust

So, if you’ve made a sleeping bag or bed, you don’t need to do anything special to sleep in them. Every time you quit the game or disconnect from a server in Rust, your character will go to sleep. You don’t even have to sleep over the bed when you log out.

The bed itself won’t help you rest or get a resting buff. It exists as a spawn point. If you die or you want to fast travel somewhere on the map, just place a bed or bedroll.

When you die, you will have the choice to respawn at one of those resting spots. There are only two types of resting/respawn points you can build in Rust: the sleeping bag and the bed.

The sleeping bag is available from the start of the game, and you only need 30 cloth to make it. The only problem with the bedroll is the respawn cooldown. Each time you use a sleeping bag to respawn in Rust, you will get a 5-minute cooldown for that specific bedroll.

This means that you won’t be able to spawn there again if you die in that 5-minute range.  This can be really bad if you are in the middle of a raid on your base.

The bed is a much better choice, as it only has a 2-minute cooldown. If someone is raiding your base, a bed is much more convenient than a sleeping bag. However, it might be best to place more respawn points around your base in case you die too fast.

That’s everything you need to know about how to sleep in Rust!
