Stardew Valley – How to Get Maple Syrup

One of the simple and profitable resources that you can get in the early game of Stardew Valley is maple syrup. This “exotic foraging” item is relatively easy to obtain, and you will need it for two bundles in the Community Center.

It is also a resource that you can get passively, without much effort, and you will be able to sell it for a really good price.

Also, if you get the right perk, you can increase the sale price by 25%, allowing you to make a huge profit by just occasionally checking one of your crafted items.

To get maple syrup in Stardew Valley, players will need to craft a tapper once they reach Foraging level 3 and place it on a maple tree. After 9 days, you will be able to harvest maple syrup.

How to Get Maple Syrup in Stardew Valley

There are two ways to get maple syrup in Stardew Valley:

  • Using a Tapper on a Maple Tree
  • Breaking Down Hardwood at a Wood Chipper

Unfortunately, the second method is extremely unreliable, and the wood chipper only becomes available in the first Winter. By that time, you should have crafted a few tappers.

The chance that you will get maple syrup from one piece of hardwood in the wood chipper is around 1%. Though that doesn’t sound horrible if you feed the machine a lot of hardwood, it isn’t the best way to get this resource.

How to Craft and Use a Tapper

Players can unlock the tapper by reaching Foraging level 3. Most of you will reach that level by the middle of the first Spring. To craft a tapper, you will need 40 wood and 2 copper bars.

Now, all you will need to do is place the tapper at the base of a maple tree. You can see exactly how a maple tree looks in the image at the top of the guide. They are slim trees that have arched trunks, either to the left or right.

The tree doesn’t even have to be on your farm if you already took care of most of them. Just head east to the bus station and place the tapper at one of the maple trees there.

Once they’ve placed the tapper, Stardew Valley players will have to wait 9 nights for the tapper to gather the maple syrup.

If you want to remove the tapper and place it on another tree, you can do this by hitting it with an axe or pickaxe.

What to Do with Maple Syrup in Stardew Valley

You can sell maple syrup for 200g without any perks and 250g if you get the Tapper Profession perk. This is much better than what all the other trees will give if you use a tapper on them.

Players can also use maple syrup to complete two bundles at the Community Center: the Chef’s Bundle at the Bulletin Board and the Exotic Foraging Bundle that helps with the Bridge Repair.

Maple syrup is also necessary if you want to build a bee house. Since most players have more than one bee house, placing a lot of tappers will be very helpful.

You can also gift maple syrup to the villagers of Pelican Town, as it is almost universally liked. The only person that dislikes maple syrup in Stardew Valley is Maru. Unfortunately, nobody loves it.

Otherwise, you can also eat maple syrup in Stardew Valley for 50 energy and 22 health. Those are really good numbers for an item that you can get passively every 9 days.

If you have some sugar and wheat flour on the side, you can also cook a maple bar using maple syrup, which gives 225 energy and 101 health.

That’s everything you need to know about how to get maple syrup in Stardew Valley!
