Earlier this year, the English voice actor of Tighnari, a character in Genshin Impact, was accused of numerous acts of inappropriate misconduct. Elliot Gindi, the original voice actor for Tighnari, was subsequently fired, with HoYoverse stating Gindi would no longer be voicing the character. It’s only been a few months, and we already have confirmation of a new voice actor coming in to replace Gindi. And gloriously, it is the wimpy kid himself from Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Zachary Gordon, famous for his role as Greg Heffley, will now be voicing Tighnari.
Voice lines for Tighnari were datamined showcasing some of his rerecorded voice lines. Gordon may be best known for his role as the one and only Greg Heffley, but he’s also an experienced voice actor, with roles in Kingdom Hearts III and Mafia: Definitive Edition. Still, he is mostly known for his onscreen work, but the leaked voice lines already show that Genshin Impact and Tighnari fans have nothing to worry about with his new voice direction.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid meets Genshin Impact
Genshin Impact has previously swapped around voice actors, giving this act a bit of precedence. A similar scenario happened with Oz’s Chinese voice actor, who was subsequently replaced at a later date. Additionally, Barbara’s voice actor rerecorded many of her voicelines, giving Barbara a softer edge. HoYoverse isn’t a stranger to changing voices and voicelines, and the prompt manner in which they handled this situation is amicable.
Genshin Impact Version 3.6 is set to release on April 12, bringing in a couple of new playable characters, Baizhu and Kaveh. Baizhu is a 5-star Dendro character designed to provide tons of heals and shields, while Kaveh is a 4-star Dendro character with the potential to output some nice damage. We’ll also get a rerun of Nahida, the Dendro archon, and Nilou, a masterful dancer.
