Selling your weapons seems like an easy favorite on the surface, but it’s a little more complex than that. Weapon selling in Dead Island 2 only gets you cash, which can have short-term benefits like being able to buy another weapon to replace the weapon you’re selling, but can cost you long-term if you end up running out of weapons or not enjoying the weapon you replace the one you’re selling with.

The third option: upgrading

If you fall in love with a weapon and want to keep it for the rest of the game, Dead Island 2 actually accommodates this. When you’re at a workbench, not only can you upgrade your weapon with mods and perks, but you can also make a weapon ‘match level’ with you, meaning you can upgrade its damage output to be on par with your current level. This is a brilliant feature if your quandary surrounding whether to scrap or sell is because of your affinity for a weapon, and how best to utilize it after you’re done using it.

Which one?

The answer to that question is in the eye of the beholder, all of them have benefits that you can use to your advantage. If you’re selling a pistol to buy a better pistol, odds are selling might be the best option. If you don’t need the cash however, scrapping that pistol for a few spare parts isn’t a bad idea either.
