Best Crops to Farm in the Fall in Stardew Valley

Though there are quite a few good Fall crops in Stardew Valley, the best one that will make you the most gold is Cranberries. The other ones are also good choices, but if you were to only mass farm one, then Cranberries should always be your first choice.

Cranberries – The Best Fall Crops in Stardew Valley

One of the main reasons why Cranberries are the best crop to farm in the Fall in Stardew Valley is their really good profit margin and regrowth capabilities.

Players can buy Cranberry Seeds from Pierre’s Shop for 240 g, and they will grow in 7 days. Once you harvest them, they will continue regrowing every 5 days. Also, each harvest, you will get 2 crops.

This means that you can get 10 Cranberries if you plant one Cranberry Seed on Day 1 of Fall. Since Cranberries sell for at least 75 g, you can make 750 g just from one Cranberry Seed.

So, from one 240 g Cranberry Seed, you can make 750 g, which means that you will get at least 510 g in profit from a single Cranberry crop.

Unfortunately, there is no way to speed up the growth process, as even fertilizer wouldn’t help much. Fertilizer will only speed up the initial growth of the crop until it reaches the first harvest. However, it doesn’t speed up the time between regrowths.

Another thing that you can do with Cranberries is to place them in the Seed Maker to get around 1 to 3 Cranberry Seeds and sell them directly. A Cranberry Seed can be sold for 60 g, which is incredibly close to the actual price of the Cranberries.

Pumpkins – Fall’s Giant Crop

Pumpkins have really good profit margins in Stardew Valley, their seeds only cost 100 g at Pierre’s Shop, and you can easily grow them in just 13 days. This means that you get two harvests in Fall if you plant Pumpkins on the same plot of land.

The base sell price for a standard Pumpkin is 320 g, which is more than triple the initial investment. Compared to most crops in Stardew Valley, which usually are only worth twice their initial seed price, the Pumpkins are an amazingly profitable vegetable.

Along with the Cauliflower and Melon, Pumpkins are one of the only possible Giant Crops in Stardew Valley. If you plant 9 pumpkins in a 3×3 space, you will have a small 1% chance to spawn a Giant Pumpkin that will occupy all of those tiles.

A Giant Pumpkin can be harvested for around 20 resources instead of the original 9 that you were supposed to get.

Also, with the help of fertilizer, you can even get 3 harvests of Pumpkins during Fall. However, you will need at least the Deluxe Speed-Gro fertilizer if you want to do this. The simple Speed-Gro will not get the job done by the end of the season, even with the Agriculturist profession.

Grapes – The Poor Man’s Cranberries

Grapes are a really good Fall crop in Stardew Valley that players should plant if they can’t afford to buy a lot of Cranberries. The Grape Starter only costs 60 g at Pierre’s Shop, and they will grow in 10 days. After that, they will keep regrowing every 3 days until Winter.

Since they are so cheap, they might be a better choice if you don’t want to spend thousands just to get your crops started. If you plant the starters in the first 3 days of Fall, you will get 6 harvests, which will yield around 480 g (one Grape is 80 g).

However, with the help of fertilizers, you can get up to 8 harvests. You just need around 35% faster growth time, which you can get with the Hyper Speed-Gro fertilizer or with the Deluxe Speed-Gro combined with the Agriculturist profession.

In general, players should be able to get at least around 420 g profit per Grape Starter that they buy if they plant them in the first 3 days of Fall. Considering how dirt cheap Grape Starters are, you should consider planting Grapes as soon as possible.

Artichoke – Would Have Been The Best If It Were Available Year 1

The Artichoke suffers from a fate similar to the one of the Red Cabbage in the fact that it is only available from the second year onward. Even though the Artichoke is an amazing crop, the profit margins just aren’t good enough compared to the Cranberries.

Artichoke Seeds cost 30 g, which is an incredibly low price, and Artichoke sells for 160 g. This is one of the largest buy-sell ratios in Stardew Valley, and yet it might be too late for it to matter.

If you are a casual player that likes to take their time, then the Artichoke is the crop for you. You can get this crop for dirt cheap in bulk and make a little fortune from it. However, if you’ve invested time and effort into your farm, you might have the money to plant much more profitable crops.

Another way you can get Artichokes before Year 2 would be to plant Mixed Seeds in the Fall and hope you would get some Artichokes. Then, get the harvest and use it at the Seed Maker to get seeds and start planting this crop.

The Artichoke takes 8 days to grow. This means that, under normal circumstances, you should be able to harvest one plot of land 3 times during Fall. Using Hyper Speed-Gro and the Agriculturist profession should allow you to plant and harvest Artichoke 6 times.

However, it might be a better idea to use this strategy with the Pumpkins, as they would give you a much larger profit.
