Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, set to release later this year, has sparked discussions among fans regarding the inclusion of a co-op mode. However, Insomniac has clarified that the game will not feature multiplayer gameplay, putting an end to the speculation.
The rumor gained traction when Nadji Jeter, the actor behind Miles Morales, made comments during SacAnime last September. When asked about the possibility of co-op in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Jeter responded, “I believe it has been announced, I don’t know if it’s been announced or not but I think so.” This statement, upon closer inspection, appears to be a result of a misunderstanding on Jeter’s part. He initially expressed uncertainty about the co-op feature’s announcement before suggesting that it had indeed been announced. However, subsequent comments added further confusion to the matter.

Despite the speculation, Insomniac’s confirmation puts the co-op rumors to rest. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to be showcased at the upcoming PlayStation Showcase on May 24. The game, featuring both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, which was a solo adventure.
It’s worth noting that Tony Todd, known for his role as Candyman, has been cast as the voice actor for Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. In March, Todd got carried away with excitement on Twitter, prematurely revealing that the game was planned for a September 2023 release. However, he swiftly deleted the tweet, presumably after receiving a stern call from Disney, and admitted that he was uncertain about the actual release date of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
While Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 won’t feature co-op, Insomniac is simultaneously developing a Wolverine title. Fans may have the opportunity to team up with Sabretooth for some collaborative gameplay in the Wolverine game instead.
