Metal Gear Solid 3 remake reportedly real and getting a multi-platform release

According to a recent report by Windows Central, the rumours about a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake are actually true and the game will have a multi-platform release for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. The game was rumoured in October 2021 by Konami, and the development was handed over to Virtuos, who is primarily known for porting work. The project has been discussed since then, but it was never officially confirmed until Jez Corden of Windows Central said that he was able to “hard-confirm” that it is real.

Contrary to speculation that it would be a PlayStation exclusive, it will be a multi-platform release, as per a recent report by Insider Gaming, which states it will make an appearance on Xbox and PC alongside PlayStation, “despite a marketing deal.” Claims of a “marketing deal” suggest that the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake will probably be announced during this week’s PlayStation Showcase. Everything will be revealed soon enough, as the event commences on 24th May at 9 pm BST.

Let’s play Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater – Late to the Party.

Initially released in 2004 for PlayStation 2, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is Hideo Kojima’s critically acclaimed game and serves as a prequel to the original Metal Gear during the Cold War era. The game follows FOX operative Naked Snake on a mission of espionage through the Soviet jungle, and eventual releases on PlayStation 3, Vita, Xbox 360, and 3DS.

If rumours are to be believed, then the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake will be the second major Konami franchise game to be revived, as the publisher confirmed the existence of its long-rumoured Silent Hill 2 remake at the end of last year.
