In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, talking to NPCs is essential in uncovering side stories and quests. One particular side quest involves assembling a fossil for an NPC named Loone. This three-part series side quest culminates in finding the Child Leviathan Fossil. This guide will help you navigate your way to the Gerudo Great Skeleton cave and complete the Gerudo’s Colossal Fossil side quest to find the Child Leviathan Fossil.
Assembling the Child Leviathan Fossil
To begin this side quest, talk to Loone, who can be found south of East Akalla Stable. Loone will prompt you with three side quests, the final of which requires you to find the Child Leviathan Fossil.
To locate the Gerudo Great Skeleton cave, you can either fast travel to Miryotanog Shrine or make your way there by foot. Keep in mind that you will encounter a sandstorm that will disable your map and compass, so rely on the swirling columns of air to get your bearings. Look for a campfire atop a sand dune, as the cave entrance is downhill from that campsite. See the map screenshot above for the cave’s precise location.
Once you reach the cave, you will need to find Loone and assemble the Child Leviathan Fossil consisting of three pieces: the Skull, Tail, and Ribcage.
The Skull
The Skull is located near Loone, making it an effortless find.
The Tail
The Tail is located at the back of the cave, near a small pool of water with circling Fairies. To uncover the Tail, pick up a nearby Fan, and carry it over to the area with the half-buried Tail. Activate the Fan, and aim it at the Tail to blow away any sand obstructing it.
The Ribcage
Stand beneath the skeleton near the back of the cave to locate the Ribcage. Ascend along the spine of the Leviathan skeleton using the Arise ability. Look to the ceiling, where you will spot a piece of bone sticking out of the rock. Use Arrow fused with a Bomb Flower to break the Ribcage free from the ceiling.
Assembling the Child Leviathan Fossil
Next, bring the Tail and Ribcage to the head and use the Ultrahand ability to fuse them together. Once you have assembled the Child Leviathan Fossil, talk to Loone to receive your prize of 50 rupees and complete the side quest.
