In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, or Lost Gorondia, players guide Link through the Fire Temple past several challenges such as mini-miniboss fights and a lengthy underground Depths section. Much like traditional Zelda dungeons, this dungeon features a unique puzzle mechanic that requires players to find and hit five gongs in order to unlock the door lock by lock. Here is a Fire Temple guide to help you unlock each lock.

Start and Lock Walkthrough

To begin, players must launch Yunobo at the marble rock to get into the entrance and head straight. Once you reach the locked door, head to the terminal beside it and touch it to receive your objective. The disembodied voice explains that you must find and hit five gongs in the Temple in order to unlock the door lock by lock. Your map will display their location, making it easy to find each gong.

First Lock

After exiting the entrance, take a right and head down the path towards the hostile Construct with a bow, defeat it and proceed into the next room. You will notice a bunch of fire hydrants in the room. Pick one up, activate it, and use it to create cooled rock platforms to get across. Next, launch Yunobo into the gong to unlock the first lock.

Second Lock

Travel to the minecart, hit the yellow stone to open the roadblock, and get back in the cart. Launch Yunobo immediately at a marble rock and then at a Construct in a cart that attacks you on the rail. You will then also have to hit another circular device to change the route. After several stops and starts, smash the stone with Yunobo and fight a construct to get to the gong. Unlock the second lock.

Third Lock

To reach the third lock, flip the cart around with the bell and hit the next bell with Yunobo to go up to the third floor. Once you fight the Construct here, there’s another chest with ten arrows in the room. To progress, go to the right back corner to find another fan cart. Set it on the broken rail path, then grab two rockets from the upper shelves and attach one above the fan and one on the front. Safely launch yourself to the fourth floor to unlock the third lock.

Fourth Lock

Use glide or the minecart to return to the previous room with the capsules and rockets. Take the right route, then the next rail to reach the marble rock and break it to reveal a bell. Don’t hit this bell yet, cart back to the original room. Hit the left and right bell, then hop to the left rail to go up. Glide down to the floor below and break the marble rock, take the hydrant, and make another rock bridge to hit the gong to unlock the fourth lock.

The Fifth and Final Lock

To reach the final lock, players need to build a ramp with cooled lava stone, then launch Yunobo off of it. Once they do that, rip a fan off of one of the carts and attach it to the top of the ramp. Glide over to the opening and launch Yunobo into the last gong. Hit the yellow stone in the room to open the door, and make your way down the path to the door to complete the dungeon.

Much like other dungeons in the game, the Fire Temple is a mix between traditional Zelda dungeons and its predecessor Breath of the Wild. While there’s an overarching puzzle mechanic, players have everything they need to solve it from the start. With this guide, unlocking each lock in the Fire Temple should be a breeze and players can continue their journey with Link through the mythical land of Hyrule.
