VR enthusiasts have reason to rejoice as Meta unveiled its newest slate of upcoming VR games at the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase. Among the highlights is the VR adaptation of Sega’s rhythm-action game Samba de Amigo, boasting an all-new entry to the franchise. The upcoming game gives players a fresh take on the beloved classic and is set to launch this fall. Meta also announced that Schell Games’ I Expect You to Die series would be returning with a third installment, I Expect You to Die 3: Cog in the Machine, slated for release later this year, along with another horror game even more silent and deadly than its predecessor.
Underdogs, meanwhile, takes a different turn and puts players in a futuristic physics-based brawler set in the mech-fighting capital of the 22nd century. In this single-player game, you play as a five-tonne Gorilla Mech trying to smash your way through the competition, upgrading skills and arming yourself with a variety of weapons including chainsaws and wrecking balls. In a similar vein, NFL Pro Era’s next installment promises more multiplayer-focused content, including new modes and features.
Racket fans also have something to look forward to with Resolution Games’ Racket Club, which is built around a built-for-VR racket sport. The game features a single-player mode, online play, and opportunities to hang out court-side between matches. For those looking for more thrilling games, Othergate’s Dungeons of Eternity is an intriguing pursue-and-capture game that lets you explore an ever-changing dungeon with up to three players, randomly generated from hundreds of unique chambers on each playthrough.
Lastly, fans of cult classic CD-ROM adventure The 7th Guest will be pleased to find that it’s being rebuilt from the ground-up for VR by Vertigo Games. After playing through this horror house game’s many rooms and solving puzzling mysteries, players will have a chance to craft newly generated weapons for another try. Despite a lot of delays and still little details, Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR is announced to have more details on June 12 at the Ubisoft Forward showcase.
Meta Quest Gaming Showcase is a promising prelude to an exciting future of VR gaming. More games are bound to come as the tech continues to improve.
