Square Enix has confirmed that the highly-anticipated demo of Final Fantasy 16 will be available to play today. The demo will be accessible on PlayStation 5 in the United Kingdom at 9am, which is 4am Eastern time or 1am Pacific.
The demo will contain two lengthy sections showcasing Final Fantasy 16, starting with the game’s opening prologue. According to a PlayStation blog update, this section will likely last around two and a half hours and will give you a look at the main character Clive’s backstory.
After completing the first demo, players will unlock a separate battle demo in another two-hour gameplay segment. In this demo, players will infiltrate a fort with the assistance of wolf Torgal and Cidolfus Telamon. Expect various enemies and epic bosses.
Gameplay Progression
Your progression in the first demo, which focuses on the prologue of the game, will carry over to the main game. However, progress made in the separate combat demo will not transfer over to the main game. This means the main character Clive’s backstory will be available in the main game. The combat demo will be a unique experience to itself.
“Final Fantasy 16 has me questioning the essence of the series,” wrote Eurogamer’s Ed Nightingale after playing the game last month. “Whether it’s ‘Final Fantasy enough’ for fans remains to be seen; it certainly is for me.” The game will be launched for the PlayStation 5 on June 22.
