Street Fighter 6 Review – Gamer Tweak

Capcom’s Street Fighter 6: A Redemption

After its predecessor’s disappointing run, Street Fighter 6 is a redemption for Capcom. It’s a re-imagination of a 2D fighting game with the addition of open-world game elements. It has exceeded our expectations with its Classic & Modern Controls, World Tour, Battle Hub, and Fighting Grounds. We’ve been playing it since its release on June 2, 2023, and there’s still a lot to discover. Here’s our Street Fighter 6 Review after almost a week of playing.

Street Fighter 6 Review

Capcom’s addition of the new World Tour & Battle Hub feature to Street Fighter 6 is impressive. Even a newbie with no prior knowledge about this series can enjoy it. There’s no need to play all the previous games in order to catch up.

If you’re into role-playing, the World Tour mode will be your favorite. You can create your Avatar in a detailed fashion before entering the story. As you progress through the game, you’ll learn more about the SF characters through cutscenes and dialogues. Plus, you’ll get to interact with NPCs and fight them for rewards. The newly added combat mechanic, the Drive Gauge, features Special Moves like Drive Parries, Drive Rushes, Drive Reversals, Overdrives and Drive Impacts when filled with 6 bars.

Battle Hub is an impressive lobby-type area that allows players from all over the world to enter and find a worthy opponent. It’s filled with arcade machines that you can access to challenge opponents. You can even climb upstairs to try out your DJ skills with the DJ mixer.

Fighting Grounds is a unique collection of match types, including Tutorial & Combo Trials, one on one or a team battle against CPU or a friend, online battle that supports cross-platform play, ranked match, casual match, custom room, extreme battle (special match), and arcade mode.

Controls

Developers added controls to take care of both seasoned and new players. Modern Controls and Classic Controls are the two most significant highlights of Street Fighter 6’s gameplay mechanics. Modern Control allows you to play the game with a 4-button control configuration, while the latter uses a 6-button traditional control scheme. You can even play with an Arcade Stick, which provides an upper hand to enthusiasts.

Final Thoughts

Street Fighter 6 is worth a try, even for a new player. The variety of combat moves it offers is something you must experience. It sets a bar for all upcoming Capcom Games and is worth your money.
