At the Xbox Games Showcase and Starfield Direct events, Microsoft unveiled its plans for the future of gaming, including new games, a 1TB Series S console, and expanding the reach of PC Game Pass with NVIDIA GeForce NOW. Phil Spencer, Sarah Bond, Matt Booty, and Todd Howard addressed the future of gaming for Microsoft in the What’s Next for Gaming event, highlighting the record-breaking number of monthly active users and the 46% increase in people playing PC games on Game Pass last quarter.
Xbox aims to release at least four first-party games a year with careful consideration for each project’s needs. With an existing community of popular games like The Elder Scrolls Online, Sea of Thieves, and Minecraft, Xbox Game Studios and Bethesda have shipped 10 games with over 10 million players in the last five years. Xbox is committed to investing in new franchises and taking risks, offering the most diverse line-up of games from any company in the industry.
Starfield, with a simultaneous release on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Steam, will be the most-played Bethesda Game Studios title ever. Bethesda Game Studios has worked with the Xbox development platform for a long time, and with Microsoft’s backing, it’s created the most ambitious game in the studio’s history in its first new universe in over 25 years. Xbox also enables creators of all sizes to build the games they want, offering multiple paths into the business and multiple paths to success.
Xbox Game Pass continues to expand with the addition of streaming PC games through Nvidia GeForce NOW, catering to low-spec PCs, Macs, Chromebooks, mobile devices, and TVs. Xbox is also making the console experience even faster and more user-friendly with an all-new Home User Experience that will roll out to all users in the coming months.
Xbox is committed to providing its players with the most diverse, easy-to-access line-up of games in the industry and bringing gaming to everyone, no matter where in the world they are. By growing the industry, offering new first-party titles every year, giving partners more ways to deliver and access games, and offering multiple ways to play, Xbox is excited to go on this journey together with its community.
