Developer WeMade, who are known for mobile game Anipang, have acquired a 20% stake in StandEgg. This acquisition aims to produce two new games based on the Anipang IP. Although WeMade have previously invested in blockchain technology, they also have a significant mobile gaming presence. Anipang has proved popular in Korea and Japan, but is relatively unknown elsewhere. The investment in StandEgg means that WeMade can focus on their own investments while continuing to be involved in gaming with their most well-known, fully-owned IP. StandEgg has developed several mobile games, including three games in the Anipang series. This deal will allow WeMade Play’s first game developed externally via StandEgg, with two titles based on Anipang..
Moving Forward
WeMade has planned to further push the Anipang brand. Even though it’s unclear whether the Anipang series will ever see a prominent release outside of Asia, it remains obvious that the game will not get any less attention from WeMade anytime soon. It doesn’t seem WeMade is going to be moving away from blockchain either, if their recent investments are anything to go by. For those who want to know more about WeMade and their work, EVP Corporate Development, Wonil Suh will be at PocketGamer’s Dubai Game Expo Summit sharing the knowledge of tokenomics learned by WeMade during the releases of over 30 web3 games.
