The Dead Cells animated series is set to premiere in 2024
Dead Cells, the popular video game, is expanding its reach with a new animated series. The series will be produced by French animated streaming service ADN in collaboration with Bobbypills, a unique animation house based in Paris. Known for creating content that appeals to a unique audience, Bobbypills is also responsible for the upcoming Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon anime Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix.
The animated series will consist of 10 episodes, each lasting seven minutes. Initially, the series will only be available in France before eventually being released in other territories. Although the exact timeline for the international release is yet to be confirmed.
A thrilling story of a cursed island
The Dead Cells animated series takes viewers on a journey to a cursed island plagued by a mysterious illness. In an attempt to find a remedy, the king of the island inadvertently turns the population into monstrous creatures. However, an ancient prophecy tells of a hero with a flame on their head who will bring salvation to the island. Interestingly, when this hero finally emerges, all they want is to be left alone.
Despite being released in early access in 2017, Dead Cells continues to thrive. The game has received multiple free updates, premium DLC packs, and has been ported to various platforms. The recent expansion, a highly acclaimed collaboration with Castlevania, will be the highlight of the upcoming physical edition. Developers Motion Twin and Evil Empire recently celebrated the game’s milestone of surpassing 10 million sales. They have also revealed their content roadmap, which extends until at least the end of 2024.
