What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 17th)

Aside from my review games, I don’t have much planned for gaming this weekend. However, I’m excited to revisit Oxenfree after trying out its sequel. It’s a game that I’m really looking forward to diving back into.

On the PlayStation 5, I finally had the chance to play the demos for Final Fantasy XVI and Lies of P. I enjoyed the former so much that I might give it another go before the full game is released.

Taking a break from a certain massive open-world game, I plan to spend most of my weekend trying out some demos that were released in the past few weeks.

Venba, Little Nemo and the Guardians of Slumberland (both on Steam), and Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective are all on my download list. Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is a game I’ve never played before, but I know I’ll absolutely adore it. I’ve already played the Final Fantasy XVI demo on PS5, but maybe I’ll give it another go. Have a great weekend, everyone!

This week, I haven’t played Tears of the Kingdom at all (I know, shocking)! It turns out there are other great games out there…

I’ve finally gone back to playing Hollow Knight, and it’s incredibly fun — despite the fact that I’m currently being repeatedly defeated by a particularly frustrating boss. I really hope to conquer that boss battle this weekend so I can continue exploring the spooky world of Hollow Knight.

I’m also giving Sonic Mania another shot. It didn’t initially capture my interest, but after the Superstars announcement, I decided to give it another try, and I’m now having a blast — the controls are just so smooth.

Now that I’ve completed The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, I feel a bit empty in my gaming life. As a result, I’ve returned to my Nintendo 64 adventures, and the latest release from Bitmap Books has led me to assemble the PC Engine Mini once again in front of my TV. It truly is a fantastic little system! Hopefully, the big Nintendo release next month (Pikmin 4, in case you didn’t already know) will help me regain my gaming enthusiasm.

Game of the Week is Grimace’s Birthday on Game Boy Color. Don’t judge it until you give it a try.
