False Friends: A Side Quest Guide for Final Fantasy 16
If you’re a player of Final Fantasy 16, you may come across the side quest called False Friends in Martha’s Rest. This quest becomes available after unlocking the main quest Holding On. In False Friends, Clive is tasked with finding Norreis, a Bearer who has fled the town and is being pursued by a former friend. Here is everything you need to know about completing the False Friends quest in Final Fantasy 16.
How to Complete False Friends
If you haven’t started the False Friends quest yet, you can find it located right next to the Bloodaxe Barracks in Martha’s Rest. If you don’t see it, make sure you have completed or have the Holding On quest. Once you’ve spoken to Brennan and Ronald, your mission will be to venture out and locate Norreis.
Fortunately, the first spot you’ll need to check for False Friends is not far at all. Simply head across the bridge behind Brennan. There, you’ll see a guard on the second bridge, looking off into the distance. He will have a marker above his head. Speak to him, and he will inform you that Norreis ran off down the hill. Follow the bridge and head towards the marked area on the map to continue your search. By the way, in case you were wondering, the sword I’m using in Final Fantasy 16 is the Flametongue.
Now, be on the lookout for a lantern on the ground. You’ll find it in the northern section of the next search area. This lantern will lead Clive to Norreis’ actual location. After a brief conversation, Clive will assure Norreis that everything is alright. Afterwards, return to Martha’s Rest and speak to Brennan.
Unfortunately, the reward for completing this quest is not the greatest. This seems to be consistent with most side quests in the early stages of Final Fantasy 16. You will receive 10 Magicked Ash and one Meteorite as your rewards. There is no Gil given for this quest. However, you can take solace in the fact that you have completed False Friends and can continue your journey in Final Fantasy 16 without a guilty conscience.
While you’re in the area, make sure to also complete the Crystalline Lifeline quest in Martha’s Rest. Side quests may not offer extravagant rewards, but they do provide a healthy boost to your AP, so it’s worthwhile to undertake them in Final Fantasy 16.
Final Fantasy 16 is now available for PlayStation 5.
