Final Fantasy 16: How to Obtain the Powerful Excalibur
Final Fantasy games are renowned for their inclusion of powerful optional weapons that can greatly enhance a protagonist’s abilities. Final Fantasy 16 continues this tradition with the inclusion of the legendary sword, Excalibur. While acquiring Excalibur may prove to be a challenging endeavor, the rewards that come with wielding this extraordinary weapon make it well worth the effort. Here’s a guide on how to obtain Excalibur in Final Fantasy 16.
Unlocking the Excalibur Quest
The quest to unlock Excalibur begins with the “Blacksmith’s Blues II” side-quest, which can be obtained from Blackthorne the Blacksmith at the Hideaway. This quest becomes available around the same time you are in the midst of the main story quest, “Out of the Shadow.” It’s important to note that completing the initial “Blacksmith’s Blues” quest is a prerequisite for unlocking the optional “Blacksmith’s Blues II” quest.
Once you have acquired the “Blacksmith’s Blues II” quest, read the letter titled “About Blackthorne” on your desk and then speak with Blackthorne himself. After conversing with both Blackthorne and Charon, use your map to fast-travel to Dalimil Inn in order to talk to Ignac, who can be found on the upper floor of the tavern. Ignac will request that you retrieve an item from a group of bandits.
Retrieving Excalibur
Journey to the Velkroy Desert and defeat the bandits located in the northeastern section of the map. They can easily be found within the green circle on your map. Once you have successfully defeated the bandits, you will find yourself back at Dalimil Inn. After a short cutscene, return to Blackthorne at the Hideaway to complete the quest and receive the Excalibur Design Draft, which will allow you to create Excalibur.
Materials Required for Crafting Excalibur
- Wyrrite x300
- Grimalkin Hide x1
- Bomb Ember x1
- Scarletite x1
Obtaining Wyrrite should not pose much of a challenge as it is commonly found in your inventory. However, the remaining materials can be acquired by defeating certain creatures during hunts, including Fastitocalon, Grimalkin, and Bomb King. Additionally, defeating the Bomb King will also allow you to upgrade your inventory, making it a worthwhile endeavor.
