The current state of the meta in the gaming world is mostly settled. However, there are still heroes that have been overlooked and are in desperate need of some attention. In this article, we will discuss three heroes that have been ignored in recent tournaments and are unlikely to make a comeback without a few buffs.
Dazzle, once a formidable hero, has been hit hard with nerfs. The latest patch has overhauled his ultimate ability, making it inferior to its previous version. Not only does the new ultimate have a health cost for cooldown refresh, but it also doesn’t scale as well as before. This change has eliminated the viability of using items like Guardian Greaves to enhance healing, as they now place a debuff on affected heroes.
Additionally, Dazzle has lost some Hex duration on his Poison Touch ability due to a universal crowd control nerf. As a result, he has become the only unplayable Universal hero. His healing capabilities are worse than Oracle, his damage and control are inferior to conventional position five heroes, and his reduced attack range, limited health, and low armor make him a weak laner. Furthermore, his questionable ultimate puts him at great risk on the battlefield.
To make Dazzle relevant again, his ultimate needs to be changed back to its previous version or he needs significant stat buffs. However, caution must be exercised to avoid making him overpowered.
The current carry meta revolves around two types of heroes: lane dominators and flash-farmers. Unfortunately, Spectre does not fit into either category and struggles to catch up with other carries, even with Radiance. Spectre only becomes effective if she manages to secure early kills with her first Haunt ability. Otherwise, she falls behind and feels irrelevant.
Furthermore, Spectre’s new Shard ability, which is supposed to increase damage reflected, does not offer enough value to bring her into the meta. It does not provide the desired AoE effect of Blade Mail. If the Shard increased the effective range of Dispersion during activation or suppressed Break effects, it could potentially make Spectre more viable. However, for now, it is best to avoid picking Spectre as she does not offer enough impact.
Wraith King is a flash farming hero who also performs well in the laning phase. Despite checking some boxes to be in the meta, his stats and performance are subpar. The main reason for this is his heavy reliance on his Skeletons, which do not contribute enough during fights due to the abundance of random AoE damage in the game. Additionally, many meta supports are tanky, making it difficult for the Skeletons to punish their overextension. Furthermore, the Skeletons’ reduced damage to structures hinders Wraith King’s ability to capitalize on won fights.
This results in Wraith King excelling in lower-level brackets but being outmatched in higher-level games. Further emphasis on his Skeleton army may not improve his performance in Divine+ pubs, so it may be necessary to consider stat boosts or cooldown reductions to make him more viable.
While there are certainly other heroes that could benefit from minor buffs, these three heroes – Dazzle, Spectre, and Wraith King – are in the most desperate need of attention.
