Publisher and developer Rusty Lake has announced that The Past Within, a point-and-click co-op puzzler, will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch on July 6th. Originally released on mobile and PC last year, the game challenges players to unravel a sinister plot with the help of a friend. However, there’s a twist – one player will explore events from the past while the other observes from the future.
In order to solve the mystery left behind by the protagonist’s father, Albert Vanderboom, players will need to use items and clues from their respective time periods. Communication and teamwork are key, so each player will require their own copy of the game (cross-platform play is available) and a means of talking to one another.
The game features two chapters and has an average playtime of 2 hours. Players are encouraged to replay the game from the opposite perspective for a fresh experience and new solutions to puzzles. The Past Within supports cross-platform play across PC, Mac, iOS, Android, and the Nintendo Switch.
The Past Within is available for pre-order on the Switch eShop with a 40% discount, bringing the price down to £3.59 (usually £5.99). The game offers a relatively short but immersive experience, making it an affordable option for players seeking a couple of hours of fun.
