In the world of Old School RuneScape, obtaining a fire cape is considered a monumental achievement. This coveted item not only showcases a player’s dedication and skill, but it also comes with several combat benefits. From its impressive design to its valuable bonuses, the fire cape is truly a desirable item for any player.
How to Obtain The Fire Cape in Old School RuneScape
In order to obtain the fire cape in Old School RuneScape, players must venture into the TzHaar Fight Cave and defeat the powerful boss known as Jad. Upon completing the cave and emerging victorious, players will be rewarded with the fire cape as a token of their triumph.
The fire cape provides a +1 attack bonus for stab, slash, crush, magic, and ranged weapons. Additionally, it offers a +11 defense bonus for the aforementioned attack actions, as well as a +4 strength bonus and a +2 prayer bonus.
Minimum Requirements
The minimum requirements for defeating Jad can vary depending on who you ask. However, our personal opinion on the matter is as follows:
- 61 ranged
- 40 defense
- 60 hit points
- 43 prayer
- 40 agility
With 61 ranged, players can wield a rune crossbow, an effective weapon against Jad. Alongside the crossbow, it is recommended to wear a red dragon outfit, a snakeskin bandana, and snakeskin boots. Additional items such as Ava’s accumulator, an amulet of glory, diamond bolts, and an unholy book can further enhance the player’s chances of success.
Note that while it is possible to defeat Jad with these minimum requirements, the monster waves leading up to him can prove to be challenging for some players.
Suggested Requirements
If you want to increase your likelihood of success and have a smoother run through the TzHaar Fight Cave, we suggest the following requirements:
- 75 ranged
- 50 defense
- 70 hit points
- 50+ prayer
- 50 agility
With 75 ranged, players can wield a toxic blowpipe, a highly effective weapon against Jad. It is also recommended to wear a black dragon hide outfit with an archer helmet and ranger boots. Additional items such as Ava’s accumulator, an unholy blessing, and an archer’s ring can provide further bonuses.
What You Should Have in Your Inventory
When preparing for the TzHaar Fight Cave, it is important to have the right items in your inventory. We recommend the following:
- Two ranging potions
- Nine saradomin brews
- At least three super restore potions
The remaining inventory space can be filled with either extra prayer potions or super restore potions, depending on your preferred playstyle. It is crucial to tailor your inventory to your own strengths and weaknesses, whether that be focusing on prayer or hit points.
Getting to The TzHaar Fight Cave
To reach the TzHaar Fight Cave, players must first venture inside the volcano located between Brimhaven and Karamja. Once inside the volcano, head to the entrance of Mor Ul Rek. From there, head east until you reach the bank, where you can prepare yourself for the upcoming challenge.
Fighting The Waves
The waves leading up to Jad consist of various monsters with different attack types. Here’s a breakdown of each wave:
- Tz-Kih – Melee
- Tz-Kek – Melee
- Tz-Kek (orange) – Melee
- Tok-Xil – Ranged, Melee
- Yt-MejKot – Melee
- Ket-Zek – Magic, Melee
- TzTok-Jad (Jad) – Magic, Ranged, Melee
- Yt-HurKot (Jad’s healers) – Melee
Throughout the waves, it is crucial to utilize safe spots to your advantage. Melee monsters can be safe-spotted by utilizing rocks or hiding behind other monsters. Ranged and magic monsters can be safe-spotted by hiding behind rocks to avoid their attacks.
When facing Jad, it is important to activate the appropriate prayers to mitigate his powerful attacks. The Protect from Missiles prayer should be used when facing his ranged attacks, while the Protect from Magic prayer should be used when facing his magic attacks.
By following these strategies and utilizing safe spots effectively, players will increase their chances of obtaining the highly coveted fire cape.
