Friday the 13th devs are giving players legendary perks as ‘a heartfelt thank you

Generous Perks for Remaining Players of Friday the 13th: The Game

As the end of the year approaches, Friday the 13th: The Game will soon be delisted, but publisher Gun Media has promised some amazing perks for its loyal players. Unfortunately, starting from December 31, 2023, the asymmetrical horror game will no longer be available for sale due to licensing issues. However, you can still enjoy the survival horror title until the end of 2024, after which the game servers will be taken offline. While bidding farewell to this iconic horror game is bittersweet, there are still other great horror games to keep you entertained in the meantime.

But before saying goodbye for good, Gun Media has announced a series of incredible perks for the remaining players. On July 6, an update will be released that will elevate every player’s level to 150 and grant them 30 Legendary Perks without any negative effects. These perks will always have the best possible roll. Additionally, players will unlock all of Jason’s kills, except for those obtained through downloadable content (DLC).

The announcement of this update was made by the Friday the 13th developers via a tweet on July 3, 2023. They explained that these perks were necessary to “help reduce dependence on database servers.” Game director Wes Keltner emphasized that providing players with these perks was the team’s way of ensuring the best possible experience and expressing their heartfelt gratitude as they approach the inevitable goodbye.

While it’s saddening to bid farewell to this terrifying survival horror experience, there is hope for slasher fans. In an interview with Rely on Horror, American composer Harry Manfredini shared that he is currently working on a new Friday the 13th horror game, which is a completely separate project from Friday the 13th: The Game. Manfredini revealed that the new game will feature more realistic-looking characters and will be developed by a different studio. Although there are limited details available at the moment, we anticipate that it will fill the survival horror void left by the delisting of Friday the 13th: The Game.
