Uncovering the Intricate Magic System of Immortals of Aveum
The latest trailer for Immortals of Aveum provides players with a comprehensive explanation of the game’s intricate colored magic system. This in-game mechanics trailer follows the previously released campaign trailer, which was delayed by EA earlier this year.
In Immortals of Aveum, players accompany the protagonist Jak as he joins an elite order of battlemages on a mission to save the world from imminent war. To succeed, players must delve into the mysteries of Aveum’s troubled past and master three forces of magic, enabling them to unleash spells that defy conventional FPS norms.
The newest trailer offers a closer look at the colored magic system within the world of Aveum. In this world, magic is the driving force behind everything, from industry and daily life to the military strength of its five kingdoms.
The trailer reveals that the playable character, Jak, is a Triarch – an extremely rare type of spellcaster capable of wielding all three types of magic. By utilizing their weapon, the sigil, players can focus their magic and enhance its accuracy, making it exceptionally lethal in combat.
Mastering the Colored Magic
Each type of sigil corresponds to a different style of magic:
- Red sigils are designed for close-quarters combat and unleash powerful “fury spells” that drain the player’s mana bar significantly. Players should conserve these spells for battles against large crowds or formidable bosses. Seeking out and crushing mana crystals will be essential for replenishing mana between skirmishes.
- Blue sigils concentrate magic into potent bolts for long-range engagements. They can also be used to augment spells, such as manipulating objects or accessing hidden locations. This versatility proves particularly useful when solving the numerous puzzles scattered across the world of Aveum.
- Green sigils allow players to cast rapid-fire homing projectiles. This feature enables them to attack enemies while on the move. While spells of all colors are effective against enemies, aligning the color of the enemy with the corresponding color of the magic enhances the attacks’ effectiveness.
Additionally, players can harness control spells to stun enemies on the battlefield. Jak possesses the ability to pull enemies towards him, slow them down, or stun them. However, the ultimate power lies in Immolate – Immortals of Aveum’s most devastating attack. This ability gradually powers up over time and ultimately unleashes a destructive beam of red, blue, and green magic, obliterating anything in its path.
Exploring Beyond Spellcasting
Immortals of Aveum offers more than just spellcasting. Players can discover boundless loot, upgrade skill trees, customize weapons, and obtain various armor sets. The game is set to be released on August 22 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
