Blizzard Unveils Details for Diablo 4 Season 1
Blizzard has recently shared exciting new information about Season 1 of Diablo 4.
Known as the Season of the Malignant, it is scheduled to commence on July 20 and introduces new challenges, a standalone story, and fresh opportunities for character customization.
In the upcoming seasonal content drop for Diablo 4, players will confront the Malignant threat, which, according to lead producer Tim Ismay, “appears throughout the entire game” (via GamesRadar).
Encountering the Malignant Threat
When encountering an elite monster in the Season of the Malignant, there is a chance that a malignant version of that monster will also appear, featuring new terrifying powers and strange tentacles.
Upon defeating the malignant monster, it will drop a heart. This heart can then be utilized to initiate a ritual by using a Cage of Binding. As expected in Diablo 4, the ritual will summon Malignants from far and wide, as well as spawn a more formidable version of the recently defeated enemy. Triumph in battle, and you will receive a Caged Heart, a powerful item exclusive to the season.
Customize Your Power
Similar to gems, Caged Hearts can be equipped in your gear, providing “a significant boost in power.” Regardless of the Diablo 4 class you choose to play, there are four different types of Caged Hearts available to suit your playstyle.
Seasonal Realm and Rewards
It is important to note that the Season of the Malignant will occur on its own distinct servers, separate from the previously known “Eternal” servers. At the end of the season, characters will be transferred to the Eternal Realm. However, in order to take part in the Season of the Malignant, players must create a new seasonal character on the seasonal realm.
Seasonal characters will have the opportunity to embark on the “season journey,” which entails a self-contained narrative centered around the Malignant threat. This questline presents exclusive cosmetics, titles, and other rewards specific to the Season of the Malignant. Additionally, the new season introduces a boss battle in the form of the Malignant Tunnels, along with six unique items and seven Legendary aspects.
Diablo 4 Battle Pass
Blizzard has also unveiled details regarding the Diablo 4 battle pass for the Season of the Malignant. While the battle pass is not obligatory for players interested in experiencing the latest season journey, the premium battle pass offers an enhanced progression rate and a plethora of cosmetic rewards, including the Warded Mustang Mount, Coldiron Barding, a new emote, and more. Battle pass holders can also take advantage of Season Blessings, powerful buffs that apply to the entire account.
Diablo 4 boasts an exceptional multiplayer experience and breathtaking gothic art style. However, the transition to a live service model has yet to be determined for this acclaimed action role-playing game.
