Mobile Game Revenue Report for June 2023
In this report, we will analyze the performance of mobile games in the month of June, highlighting the top 10 most successful games worldwide and their revenues for the period.
China Takes the Lead
Tencent’s Honor of Kings secured the top spot on the list, generating a total revenue of $213 million in June across the App Store and Google Play Store. The game’s latest version update in late June further strengthened its position, introducing new seasons, heroes, and systems. It’s worth noting that Honor of Kings has also become Brazil’s most successful free mobile game.
Another Chinese title, Honkai: Star Rail by miHoYo, claimed second place in June’s rankings. The game earned 39.7 percent of its total revenue from the Chinese iOS market, followed by 27.7 percent from Japan and 11.4 percent from the US.
Honkai: Star Rail also received an update last month, featuring new characters, scenes, and plots. It consistently ranked among the top five best-sellers on the Chinese iOS platform for seven consecutive days. Since its release, the game has set records, including a massive 20 million downloads on its launch day in April.
Continuing the Chinese domination, PUBG Mobile, another Tencent title, secured the third spot with $122 million in June revenue. The majority of the revenue, 54.2 percent, came from the Chinese iOS market, while the US market accounted for only 9 percent and the Indian market for 7.5 percent. However, the Indian mobile gaming industry faces uncertainty due to plans for a 28 percent tax levy on online games.
