PlayStation Access Controller Release Date and Price Confirmed

The PlayStation 5 has announced the release date and price for its Access Controller. This controller, designed with accessibility in mind, aims to make gaming more inclusive for players with disabilities. The release date and price details were revealed via the PlayStation Blog.

The PlayStation Access Controller, previously known as “Project Leonardo,” is the result of a five-year journey. Sony collaborated with organizations and experts to create a versatile controller kit that enables gamers with disabilities to play comfortably and for longer durations.

The PS5 Access Controller will be available worldwide on December 6, with pre-orders starting on July 21. The suggested retail price for the controller is $89.99 USD/$119.99 CAD/¥12,980 JPY/€89.99/£79.99 (MSRP).

Starting from July 21, players residing in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Spain, and the United States will be able to pre-order the Access Controller directly from PlayStation via direct.playstation.com and select retailers.

The Access Controller offers customization options such as different thumbsticks and keycaps, 360° orientation compatibility, and support for third-party accessibility accessories through four standard 3.5mm expansion ports.

On the PS5 console, users can configure various settings for the Access Controller to suit their specific needs. Key mapping, stick adjustments, control activation/deactivation, and key deactivation to prevent accidental presses are among the customizable features.
