Leaked Images and Video of PlayStation Project Q
Sony’s latest venture, PlayStation Project Q, has been making headlines with leaked images and videos surfacing on the internet. The response from fans, however, has been less than enthusiastic. Take a look at the leaked content below.
A few weeks ago, Sony announced their plans to create a portable console for PS5 owners. Named PlayStation Project Q, leaked images and a video now reveal that the project operates on the Android platform.
As shared on the Resetera forum, where the stolen photographs were posted, PlayStation Project Q can be described as an Android tablet attached to a PlayStation 5 controller. The images showcase the device in action, as well as with the screen detached. To be frank, even the quality of materials and craftsmanship does not live up to the standards of an official PlayStation product.
The console features a large center screen, flanked by a split DualSense controller on either side, similar to the design of Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Con.
The leaked photos also indicate that Project Q will not have its own proprietary software. This suggests that the device will primarily be used for streaming video games from a console, unlike stand-alone products such as the PSP and PlayStation Vita. This has left fans feeling puzzled. The interface itself bears a resemblance to the Android operating system, complete with an application drawer and a navigation system consisting of three buttons.
Many have already noted that the presence of the Android operating system makes the device vulnerable to potential “hacks” that may allow users to modify it according to their preferences. It is important to note that the final software is expected to differ from what is seen in the leaked video. Nevertheless, the inclusion of Google’s operating system holds promise for more than just streaming games from the PlayStation 5.
