Seasonal Content and Battle Pass in Diablo 4
Diablo 4 offers more than just a captivating campaign. It also provides seasonal content that will keep players coming back for more. If you’ve already finished the main storyline and reached high levels of Paradox and Renown, you might wonder what’s next. Well, the answer lies in Diablo 4’s Battle Pass for the upcoming first season.
Similar to other live-service games, Diablo 4 will introduce a Battle Pass system for each season. The Battle Pass will consist of multiple tiers, opportunities for paid progression, cosmetics for all classes, and much more. If you’re eager to know the cost, release date, and rewards of the Battle Pass, you’re in the right place. Let’s delve into all the details of Diablo 4’s Season 1 Battle Pass.
What are Seasons?
If you’ve played other online multiplayer games, chances are you’re familiar with Seasons and Battle Passes. In Diablo 4, Seasons serve as a way for developers to introduce new features, quests, legendary items, and various tweaks. Each season is expected to last around three months.
Each Season in Diablo 4 comes with a Season Journey, which offers a list of objectives to complete. By ticking off these objectives, you’ll gain perks such as Legendary Aspects through the Battle Pass before the season ends. At the start of a Season, you won’t be able to carry over your existing characters; you’ll need to start fresh. This encourages players to try out new builds and different classes.
Diablo 4 Season 1 is releasing on July 20th, 2023.
Diablo 4’s Battle Pass Explained
Diablo 4’s Battle Pass follows the same structure as many other online titles. It features a reward track that includes both free and premium rewards to collect. Each season will bring unique limited-time items across the entire Season, providing a fresh Battle Pass experience.
One question that may arise is whether you need to pay extra for the Battle Pass. The answer is no. With a free tier available, you can join the current Season without any extra cost as long as you own the game and have completed the campaign. Participation in the Seasons is optional, but leveling up the Battle Pass will grant you rewards. Additionally, there is a paid/premium version of the Battle Pass with more extensive offerings, but it’s entirely optional.
The Three Battle Pass Options
In Diablo 4, players have three Battle Pass options to choose from:
- Free Battle Pass – This is the default Battle Pass available to everyone at no cost.
- Premium Battle Pass – This version includes extra goodies and can be purchased for 1,000 Platinum, equivalent to $9.99 / £8.39.
- Accelerated Battle Pass – This option allows you to skip tiers and access both the free and premium tiers. It costs 2,800 Platinum, equivalent to $24.99 / £20.99.
Free Battle Pass Benefits
The free version of Diablo 4 Battle Pass offers 27 tiers. This means you have 27 chances to earn free loot, such as Smoldering Ashes and cosmetics, throughout the season. As the Battle Pass resets every three months, you have a limited time to collect all the rewards before the Season of the Malignant ends.
Premium Battle Pass Benefits
The premium Battle Pass in Diablo 4 consists of 27 free and 63 paid-exclusive tiers. By leveling up these paid tiers, you can obtain unique cosmetics related to the current Season. Additionally, you can earn Platinum through this Battle Pass, making it easier to justify the cost since you’ll be getting some of your currency back.
Accelerated Battle Pass Benefits
Similar to the Premium Battle Pass, the Accelerated Battle Pass includes 27 free and 63 paid tiers. However, it also provides 20 additional tier skips and an exclusive cosmetic that can only be obtained through this option. While tier skipping doesn’t enhance your character’s progress, it offers a faster way to go through 20 Battle Pass tiers without the need for extensive grinding. This is particularly useful if you’re late to join the Season of the Malignant or have limited playing time.
