Microsoft Flight Simulator is introducing two new aircraft to its lineup: the Aero Vodochody Ae-45 and Ae-145. These aircraft, created by Aero Vodochody of Czechoslovakia, are known for their unique airframes and exceptional performance.
The Aero Vodochody Ae-45 “Aero” Family
The Ae-45 is a twin-engine, low-wing utility aircraft that can accommodate up to five passengers, including two in the cockpit. It made its maiden flight in 1947 and was officially introduced in 1948. The Ae-145 is a supercharged variant of the Ae-45, featuring advanced avionics, improved flight controls, and an enhanced canopy. A total of 590 aircraft were built between 1947 and 1961, with 162 of those being Ae-145s built between 1959 and 1963.
The Local Legend 11 pack includes the Ae-45 prototype and the Ae-145, each with a selection of liveries.
The Aero Vodochody Ae-45
The Aero 45, also known as the Ae-45, was developed in 1946 by a group of Czechoslovakian engineers who aimed to create a versatile and low-maintenance aircraft. Despite lacking state or industry sponsorship, the engineers persisted and caught the attention of Aero Vodochody. The result was a highly reliable and efficient aircraft that quickly gained popularity throughout Europe.
The Ae-45 was praised for its high visibility cabin, powerful wing-mounted engines, and innovative cockpit design. It incorporated advanced features for its time, such as electrically-actuated propeller pitch gearboxes and electrical systems for flaps and landing gear control.
The versatility of the Ae-45 allowed it to be used for various purposes, including passenger transport, cargo, air ambulance, flight schools, and law enforcement. It even completed long-range expeditions, including the first Czechoslovakian aircraft to cross the Atlantic Ocean in 1958.
Although the Ae-45 is no longer in widespread use, it remains an iconic and reliable aircraft. The Local Legend Ae-45 in Microsoft Flight Simulator is a rendition of the prototype, available with different liveries.
The Aero Vodochody Ae-145
The Ae-145 is an advanced version of the Ae-45, featuring improved flight controls, avionics, and supercharged engines. Like its predecessor, it was used for various purposes by civil and military operators around the world.
Private owners often modified their Ae-145s, resulting in unique and personalized aircraft. Upgrades included cockpit instrumentation from modern aircraft and enhanced cabin comfort.
Today, fully functional Ae-145s are rare, with only a small number remaining. These aircraft offer excellent performance, with a range of 1,100 miles, a service ceiling of 19,400 feet, and a cruising speed of 160 miles per hour.
The Local Legend Ae-145 in Microsoft Flight Simulator is available with different liveries, allowing pilots to enjoy the stunning looks and outstanding performance of this aircraft.
The Aero Vodochody Ae-45 and Ae-145 are now available in Microsoft Flight Simulator for $14.99. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience these remarkable aircraft in the virtual skies!
